Getting Around Edinburgh
For all it's history, Edinburgh is uniquely compact and easy to get around on foot. The city’s has it's historic Old Town and it's rejuvenated New Town separated by an enjoyable 15-minute walk along the famous Princes Street past the imperious Castle that overlooks this fabulous city. Edinburgh has a good public transport system and is served well by bus and taxis. So Grassmarket, the Royal Mile and the new town areas are just a brisk walk or a bus ride apart. Edinburgh is undergoing construction of a new tram system so city centre traffic can be frustrating. Taxis are also available for getting around while on your hen weekend in Edinburgh. Edinburgh Nightlife
Edinburgh is famous for it's lively and vibrant nightlife and friendly locals make for an enjoyable hen party. Edinburgh's bars are spread across some popular areas so check out the famous Grassmarket and Old Town areas. Rose Street, running parallel to Princes Street, has a number of pubs and restaurants serving a range of drinks, cocktails and great food. The modern themed bars and clubs are found in Cowgate as well as the new Omni Centre - home to popular well known bar and restaurant chains. Hen Party Shopping in Edinburgh
Edinburgh is famous for it's shopping and Princes Street, The Royal Mile and George Street and Multrees Walk will provide hours of retail therapy. Major chains such as Harvey Nicholls, H&M, Top Shop, Gap, M&S and John Lewis and brand stores such as Louis Vuitton, Calvin Klein, Daks, Kurt Geiger can be found in the main ares around Princes Street, George Street and Multrees Walk. For some specialist Scottish shopping and more tourist style shops, The Royal Mile is worth a visit.
Getting to Edinburgh
By Air
Edinburgh is served by Edinburgh International Airport, eight miles west of the city. Taxis operate from outside the airport to take you to the City Centre at a cost of £15-£20 per cab. Maximise can arrange Return Airport Minibus transfers for large groups as this will work out more cost effective if you are all arriving together.
By Train
Edinburgh's main Train Station is Waverley Station and it is just over a mile to the east of the city centre. Taxis will be the best way of getting to your hotel. Buses also run regularly from the station to City Centre.
By Road
Edinburgh can be reached by the M8 from the west, the M9 from Stirling and the north-west, A90/M90 from Perth and northern Scotland, the A1 from Newcastle and north-east England and M74/A702 from Carlisle and the north-west of England.

Things to See or Do in Edinburgh
Edinburgh Castle - Situated high on a hill overlooking the city for over a thousand years, Edinburgh Castle provides a stunning backdrop for this fantastic city and well worth a visit.
Festivals - From the festival that spawned them all, the world-famous four-week-long Edinburgh International Festival to the Fringe, Military, Jazz, Film, Book and Television festivals; there is something for everyone.
Hogmanay - The winter festive season is huge with concerts and other activities starting a few before Christmas. This really is one of the biggest celebrations anywhere in Europe! But beware, Edinburgh accommodation is at a premium and is in very high demand.
Arthur’s Seat - Climb to the top of this extinct volcano for some great views of the city. At only 251m high the climb isn't too strenuous and we're sure it's extinct!
