Arsenal forward Walcott confirms engagement

The Arsenal squad can start forming their tactics for a stag weekend away trip next season - winger Theo Walcott has gotten engaged to girlfriend Melanie Slade.

And after seven years together, the young couple have had plenty of time to formulate the perfect hen and stag weekend ideas.

The pair have been dating since they were both 15, but it wasn't until New Year's Eve that the 22-year-old forward plucked up the courage to get down on one knee.

And a source told the paper: "Mel is over the moon, the ring is stunning."

The couple plan to wait until next year to get married, allowing England forward Walcott time to focus on the European Championships this summer - while scouting out stag weekends in Europe.

"They will probably do it next summer when they have more time off to organise it," the source continued. "They won't be searching for a magazine deal, though!"
