Getting around Budapest

Budapest has quite an extensive and efficient public transport system. Be prepared for typical rush hours, where roads are crowded and traffic can be rather slow but no less than you would find in any other city. But because of this, public transport is often your best bet to be on time for whatever hen party mayhem you have scheduled in.

Budapest's public transportation systems are run by the company BKV. The service includes buses, trolleybuses, trams, underground trains (Metro) and above-ground suburban trains (HÉV). Buses, trams and trolleybuses run daily from 4.30 a.m. until 11.00 p.m. The three Metro lines interconnect at Deák tér Station, and service frequencies range from 15-minutes in the evening to every two minutes at peak times.

Nightlife in Budapest

The hen party nightlife in Budapest is incredibly diverse. You have everything available from a standard local pub to the hottest nightclubs, with plenty in between. Budapest's nightlife boasts a number of large, fashionable clubs which attract big-name DJs from around the world.

Once summer comes around, there is rarely any need to go indoors to party on your hen night. The variety of outdoor nightlife in and around the Budapest city centre is unparalleled. Several derelict courtyards have been converted into popular inner-city beer gardens and the banks of the Danube are home to a number of open-air clubs. A cheeky glass of vino in the late afternoon sunshine often turns into a full-blown carnival before you know it, making this a vibrant and eclectic city for your hen party.

Eating in Budapest

Budapest has a wide selection of restaurants of a high standard for your hen party. Many serve traditional Hungarian food although there are also many Italian, Indian and Chinese restaurants so you have an extensive range of restaurants to enjoy on your hen do in Budapest. In fact, there are more than 1,000 restaurants within Budapest city limits and they range from exclusive fine dining to fast food burger bars and pizza takeaways.

Hungarian cuisine is not the most slimming in the world - so those watching their figure might need to take a weekend long break on your hen party! - but a delight all the same. Paprika is the dominant flavour of Hungary, which has a cuisine like no other place in Europe. Chicken, beef, veal, pork and seafood are flavoured with paprika as well as infamous dishes such as goulash, which contrary to popular belief is a soup rather than a stew.

Ruin bars: Pretty much the trendiest bars we've ever seen, urban ruin bars are something between a bar, an antique store and an art installation and they're beautiful. Do not miss out on your hen party.

Vidámpark: If you're looking for a little adrenaline rush on your hen do then head to Vidámpark theme park for some stomach-churning rides.

Thermal Springs: Budapest is lucky enough to have a huge amount of natural thermal springs for you to take a soak in on your hen party. These springs are also hosted to some amazing parties once the sun sets!

We have just had an amazing weekend away in Budapest! All our activities were arranged through Maximise, the activities were great fun and even though there were 18 of us they all ran extremely smoothly. Our guide was amazing and went over and above board to help us with many different situations, it was very reassuring to have someone to guide and help us. The guide made us all feel extremely comfortable, he was there when required but also stood in the background and let us enjoy Budapest in our own crazy way. When I have arranged group trips in the past I have never used a company like Maximise but I will 100% do this in the future as there is less time worrying about the organisation of the trip and more time to enjoy and have fun (the price is very competitive as well). All the group cannot stop talking about what a fantastic weekend, my messenger is full of constant chat of the fun time had. The ages in the group ranged from 18 to 60 and everyone came away having a wonderful experience, this was most definitely helped with the organisation from Maximise of great activities and really lovely guides. Thank you!

Budapest is an incredible and beautiful city and perfect for the hen weekend of all hen weekends! we had such a lovely weekend. The Prosecco Bike was lovely and escape room after a few glasses was just the funniest thing. But the best part was the lovely apartments Maximise provided. Great service from Louise. Maximise are a very good company and I'll be using them again for any kind of girly weekend I can get organised :)

Maximise were fantastic to deal with they worked with me to ensure that my sisters Hen weekend, was exactly what I wanted. The activities on offer varied massively, so we had a lot of variation to choose from. Everything on the weekend went to plan and all activities by far exceeded our expectations. Our contact and guide in Budapest was super friendly and ensured that everything was plain sailing and went to plan. I wouldn’t hesitate using maximise again and recommending them to others. Thank you for making my sisters hen weekend memorable and one that will surely be talked about for a long time to come.
