Over the last couple of years, Barcelona has joined the elite Stag Weekend locations. It is right up there with the 'big boy' stag party locations and is now one of Maximise’s most popular overseas stag destinations. Fortunately for our stags, Barcelona combines the classic Spanish stag beach holiday with an eclectic city break, making this one of our ultimate destinations! With great weather, culture, bars, clubs, water sports, football at the Nou Camp and wild activities, this city really has something for everyone!

Beach break meets city escape - it's one of our top selling stag weekend destinations, and it shows no sign of budging. The city itself is stunning, the nightlife kicks off late and lasts 'til it's early and of course there's some beautiful beaches... with women to match!

Climate in Barcelona

Unlike old blighty, Barcelona's summers are a guaranteed with sunny days lasting from around May to September. Highs hit around 35C in the peak of the summer, so make sure to pack the sunscreen and hit the beach. From October onwards you'll find the weather cools a little, and the rain will start to pour. Instead of frost and snow, the worst Barcelona sees in the winter is some dreary skies. With average annual temperature of 25C it's still ideal for a city break - although the beach bars often close down from October through April.

Getting around Barcelona

Barcelona’s centre is compact and easy to explore on foot. Bicycles are good way of getting around for the Old City and port and there's a good network of bike lanes across the city. The metro and bus systems are best for longer journeys. Cars can be a hindrance rather than a help due to the lack of parking, and most of the city is subject to confusing one-way systems. Tourist offices provide a free street map, or a better-quality map with more information is available for €1. Metro maps (ask for un plano/un plànol de metro) are available free at all metro stations. Bus maps can be obtained from the main Oficines d’Informació Turística. Transportation in Barcelona is excellent, with public subways, buses, and private taxis, tour buses, etc. The subway system is easy to understand, and the fare-card machines are relatively self-explanatory.

Nightlife in Barcelona

The nightlife in Barcelona starts late, and continues 'til the suns up. You'll find a huge choice of bars, pubs and clubs from traditional and cosy to Ibiza-esque megaclubs, and our top night out can show you the best of them. There's also some rather risque forms of adult entertainment like sex shows and poker nights with strippers. We can also organise one of the most extravagant nights out we offer for a stag night send off... in a mansion with either a poker night, a murder mystery night or a hog roast BBQ!

Learn about eating in Barcelona

Eating in Barcelona

The locals in Barcelona don't eat until late (probably due to the fact the clubs and bars don't kick off until late either!) so dinner is usually around 9pm. Barcelona has plenty of restaurants that pay homage to the region's Catalonian heritage, so expect sensational rustic tapas, tortillas, and stews laden with rich sweet meats. In addition to the plethora of national delights on offer, there's just about every cuisine you could ask for, ranging from American to African to Asian to South American, so there's no need to go hungry.

Things to see in Barcelona

Camp Nou: Tour one of the most famous stadiums in Europe, home to FC Barcelona! Go see where legends are made as you tour the pitch, back stage area, tunnel and dugouts of one of Europe's greatest teams.
La Rambla: It's undoubtedly Barcelona's most famous street and unashamedly touristy, but it's well worth taking a stroll up this 1km street. The best time to visit is in the mornings... but we've a feeling you might not have forced yourselves out of bed by then.
Hit the beach: Going to Barcelona and not going to the beach would be like coming to England and not going to London. Don't miss out on some award winning beaches, stunning women and beachside bars.

Had a stag do in Barcelona a few weeks ago. Brilliant city and highlight had to be taking in a game at Nou Camp - watching Messi and Suarez live was amazing. Apartments were perfect and weekend ran smoothly.
