Getting around Bucharest
This city benefits from having one of the largest metros in Europe, and due to only having four lines, it couldn't be simpler to use for your stag do travels. It costs around 4 lei for a return trip, which works out at about 40p, making it much, much cheaper than the tube in London!
There are also buses and trams above ground if you don't fancy the tube which have very frequent and reliable services - and the stops are announced automatically and displayed on a screen inside the vehicle, so as long as you know your stop you'll rarely have to rely on strangers to tell you where you're going!
If public transport isn't your thing there are plenty of taxi companies in Bucharest, but make sure to follow a few basic rules to ensure you're not ripped off by dodgy drivers - something Bucharest is unfortunately still suffering with despite measures to stop it. Make sure to only use the big taxi companies like Speed Taxi or Meridian and always try to get a fare quoted before you get in the taxi on the way back from your stag night.
The rate the taxis are allowed to charge is displayed on the left side of the vehicle on the front door, if you get in a taxi and a driver has turned the metre around so you can't see it - he's probably going to overcharge you. A 15 minute cab ride should cost you around 15-20 leu - even when cab drivers ask for a higher payment the taxis are still much cheaper than most in the UK, but if you follow the tips above you should be able to avoid it relatively easily!
