Getting around Budapest

Budapest has an extensive and efficient public transport system including trams, buses and metro trains in the city. Be prepared for typical rush hours where roads are crowded and traffic can be rather slow, although no less than you would find in any other capital. To avoid this, it's a good idea to make use of the metro system. It's easy to use, consisting of only four lines and a cheaper alternative to taxis and can get you where you want to go on time. If you fancy staying above ground both the trams and buses run regularly throughout the day. Night buses replaced the trams in the evening and run from 11pm until 4am meaning you can stay out as late as you want. As in all cities you're only visiting, avoid getting into taxis without agreeing a price with the driver first. If you can, use one of the bigger taxi companies like 6x6 Taxi, Budataxi or Fotaxi.

The variety of outdoor nightlife in and around the Budapest city centre is unparalleled. Several derelict courtyards have been converted into popular inner city beer gardens and the banks of the Danube are home to a number of open-air clubs. Budapest has a wide selection of top notch restaurants. Many serve traditional Hungarian food but there is also many Italian, Indian and Chinese restaurants so you have an extensive range of restaurants to enjoy on your stag weekend in Budapest. There are more than 1,000 restaurants within Budapest city limits and they range from exclusive fine dining to fast food burger bars and pizza takeaways. Hungarian cuisine is not the most slimming in the world, but it is definitely worth a try. Paprika is the dominant flavour of Hungary, which has a cuisine like no other place in Europe. Best stag do we've ever done! Thanks to Carter at Maximise office and to Barbora in Budapest. Made my life easy and the weekend a huge success! Everything was as described, in fact better as apartments were amazing! Will definitely use Maximise again.

The whole experience was warmly received. The interactions and communications I had with the Maximise staff were really helpful. We went to Budapest, and we booked transfers to and from the airport, both of which were very prompt. We also booked a Ruins Bar crawl which was brilliant, and showed us the best places to go for the rest of the weekend. And finally we booked both Zorb football, and a River cruise with stripper, of which both were loved by the whole stag party. Would certainly recommend.
