There's a reason Riga is the most popular location in Europe for stag dos. Actually there's several reasons, not least the gorgeous Baltic beauties that live there. Add some amazing day activities like bobsledding, beer bikes or a dolphin jetpack flight and throw in some epic nightlife for good measure and you've got yourself everything you need to have an unforgettable stag do. Better yet the accommodation, flights and drinks are all cheap so whether you're on a budget, or just want to save as much money for the lap clubs as possible, Riga's got you covered. Check out our packages with our favourite activities and nightlife as well as accommodation and return airport transfers, or build your own.

Climate in Riga

Rivalling England for wet summers, Riga's summer is also it's rainy season. You'll be pleased to hear, unlike home, the rain doesn't stick around all day being drizzling and dreary, it appears and passes quickly. Temperatures top out at around 30C throughout June to August. As it's next to the coast, autumn and spring can both be pretty foggy, but not too bitter. Winters are very cold in Riga, and snow is pretty much a given from December until February meaning our stag activities are packed full of winter sport options

Getting around Riga

Cars aren't necessary in Riga, mostly because they're actually banned from the Old Town bar taxis and public transport. It's compact enough that you can get around by foot. Cabbies have a relatively good reputation in Riga, but if you usually get bad luck with it, the Taxify app will stop you getting ripped off with prices up front. The trams, buses and trolleybuses are all run by the same company and you can use an e-talons card. A 24-hour card will set you back around 3 euros if you purchase it in advance from a ticket office or vending machine. Trams are usually the quickest way to get from A to B. As you'll usually have one of our lovely English speaking guides to show you the way, you shouldn't need to worry about getting lost, but if you're the organised type check out the Rigas Satiksme site to plan your journeys.

What you need to know about nightlife in Riga

Nightlife in Riga

Nightlife in Riga

Most of the nightlife in Riga is centred around the Old Town and surrounding districts. You'll find all your European cellar bars, hipster joints, alternative pubs and local breweries within Old Town or walking distance. If you're after a particularly hedonistic stag do, La Casa Del Habano, is one of the few surviving cigar bars in Europe. The club scene is underground and tends to dwell in converted cellars, warehouses or theatres. For the student scene head to Space Dog for cute bartenders, foosball tables and most importantly a Jagermeister shot machine. The strip clubs we'll take you to are packed full of stunning Baltic girls and won't cost you an arm and a leg. If you're not going on one of our guided nights out, be wary of scam strip clubs and bars on Kalku Street, Livu Square and some bars in the Old Town and always ask to see drink prices up front. If it's Summer, Jurmala is definitely worth the trip for some all night festival style parties.

Eating in Riga

A city packed full of local treasures and international favourites. If you're after trying the local grub, meat and potatoes are a staple part of every dish, with pork being the main contender. If you're after international cuisine you'll get everything from Korean to Tex-Mex within the Old Town. Tipping is generally expected at 10% and isn't usually included as a service charge on the bill. You'll also find all the fast food joint names you'd recognise at home for those painfully hungover mornings.

Things to see in Riga

Jurmala: Hit the beach on your stag do... in the summer months obviously. It's only 20 minutes outside the city centre and well worth a visit for festival style partying throughout July and August.
See the sights: We know, seeing the sights on your stag weekend is hardly as important an agenda as drinking... fortunately for you we've got the perfect solution in the form of a bar on wheels, so you can neck some pints while you take in the sights!
Psycho Room: If your stag thinks he's got balls of steel, immerse yourselves in the psycho room. An interactive experience with plenty of surprises that will leave even the bravest of stags screaming like a school girl.
