Estonia's compact capital, the port city of Tallinn, has been shaped by nearly a millennium of outside influences. Its name, derived from the Estonian for 'Danish Fort' is a reminder of the fact that the Danes captured the port city at the beginning of the thirteenth century, and boy did those Danish Vikings know how to party! As a stag weekend destination its popularity has soared recently and it's certainly becoming a big hit in Eastern Europe. Tallinn's Old Town is unique as it's one of the best-retained medieval European towns, with its web of winding cobblestone streets and buildings dating from the 11th century, preserved nearly in its entirety, although you'll be struggling to admire anything as you stumble home through the streets after a big stag night out! The old town is the nightlife hub and there is probably the most diverse range of bars in Europe in this small locality, so there's no chance of disappointment. There's a great range of activities, such as Motor Paintball, which has you shooting at each other from the sunroof of a car that one of your party drives, or regular Paintball, or maybe you fancy some Quad Biking or some Firearm Shooting? Whatever you're looking for, Tallinn has it all.

Nightlife in Tallinn

The best that Tallinn has to offer in nightlife is situated in the historical Old Town. For the size of the city there are a surprisingly high number of bars, pubs, clubs and lapclubs, making it a seriously stag friendly destination with loads on offer. All the bars and clubs are within walking distance of one another, so it's easy to stumble between them without having to worry about taxis. If you're not into partying all night at clubs and would rather stick to the bars, then there's still tonnes of great pubs to visit, all with huge selections of beer, and all at cheap prices. Whatever you're looking for on your stag weekend, Tallinn will not disappoint!

Tallinn's restaurant scene is rapidly expanding in choice and quality and now features a little something for everyone on your stag do! There's some fantastic steak restaurants about if you fancy it, and we can get you a meal in one of the best in town for your stag do! There's loads of foreign cuisine for those who know what they like, but if you want to experience a bit of Estonian culture, make sure you visit one of the brilliant traditional restaurants that serve up Estonian delicacies. Much of the cuisine is based around a cold starter of vegetables and fish, and a warm main course accompanied with black rye bread. The bread is so sacred to Estonians that they will often begin each meal with "jätku leiba", or "may your bread last". But if it's late at night and you're just looking for some post club grub, there's plenty of fast food places open all night long!

Things to see in Tallinn

Old town: Beautiful old houses and churches cobbled streets full of atmosphere. Beer tasting: Go for a selection of house-brewed beers and excellent food to the German-style beer house and micro brewery of Tallinn’s Old Town.
Day trip to Helsinki: Particularly amazing in the winter as you effortlessly and majestically cut through the ice. Helsinki is famous for beautiful open spaces, museums and a great music scene. The journey takes around two hours each way and costs around €42 return departing Tallinn at 07.30 and arriving back in the evening.
Ex KGB Headquarters: Look for the building with the bricked-up cellar windows. It was here that perceived enemies of the regime were interrogated and either shot or sent to Siberian work camps. The plaque reads, ‘This building housed the headquarters of the organ of repression of the Soviet occupational power. Here began the road to suffering for thousands of Estonians.

Couldn't have had a better weekend. Having 25 degrees+ weather in northern Europe helps, but so did transfers (air conned Mercedes minibus) to take us everywhere, three excellent guides and a mixture of really fun activities and excellent nightlife. The hotel was in the Old Town of Tallinn which is beautiful, and walking distance to everything needed - restaurants, bars, clubs and shops. As for organisation, Joe made it extremely easy and had clearly put the work in to ensure there were no issues all weekend. Will certainly use Maximise again!!

A good place to go, the old town has plenty of bars very close together but Sunday night is quiet in town.

Tallinn was a fantastic city for a stag weekend. Our group was a more mature party (Average Age 40). Activities undertaken were fantastic – We really did not know what to expect from Motor Paintball and the Quad Biking in Estonia. We were massively impressed with the organisation of both events and everyone thoroughly enjoyed the days. Tallinn nightlife was excellent, fantastic bars & restaurants that cater for the more mature stag do!
