Getting around Valencia

Valencia is relatively compact compared to some other Spanish cities and many of it’s main attractions are in the historic quarter making getting round on foot pretty easy. If however walking does not appeal to you try Valencia’s vast public transport network. The buses are reliable and regular and have routes all across the city and surrounding areas making this a cheap way to explore, alternatively the metro is a great way to get around quickly. The metro is open from 5:30 AM until midnight and a one way ticket costs around a £1 so it's very cost effective. Taxis are probably the preferred mode of transport, especially at night, as they are cheap and convenient, showing a green light when they are available.

There are 4 main areas in Valencia renowned for a vibrant nightlife scene. The beach area is a great place to start the night and has a wide variety of bars to suit everyone’s tastes. Calle Juan Llorens has a wide selection of venues playing all types of music genres. This is where the younger crowd frequents and has a lively party atmosphere. The university area again attracts a younger crowd and has a bohemian feel to it. Loads of bars and clubs are situated here and have a varying range of prices to suit every group. Barrio Del Carmen is probably the most popular area in Valencia for a night out. The bars usually wind down about 2 AM, which is when it’s time to head to one of the many clubs where you can party until the early hours. Whatever your tastes or budget on your stag weekend, Valencia has it all.

Valencia always been a centre for traditional Spanish cuisine, and although it is not yet London or New York in terms of variety, you will find a whole range of cuisines on offer from Oriental to Middle Eastern to European to Latin American. The beach area has a wide selection of cafés and restaurants serving all manner of food against the beautiful backdrop of the sea. This is the most popular area to go for a bite to eat and has a very lively atmosphere, but if you want somewhere quieter it may be worth venturing into town. Valencia was actually the first city to introduce paella but instead of the seafood paella we see today it was made from snails and rabbit. Valencia has a very rich and diverse restaurant scene and you're bound to find something and somewhere you’ll love on your stag weekend!

Things to see in Valencia

Old Town: Visit El Miguelet and the cathedral in Valencia Old Town to see the (supposed) Holy Grail and enjoy the vibrant cafe culture in this bohemian area.
Mercada Central Market: This awesome market in the heart of the city is said to be the largest indoor market in Europe.
The Beaches:  Valencia boasts miles of white sandy beaches, there are also loads of bars and cafes along the shoreline for that all important refreshment.
Ferry Trip: Valencia is not far from the Balearic Islands so it's a great day trip. Visit the beautiful Islands of Majorca, Menorca or Ibiza.
Bullring: Valencia's bullring is a modern design and is no less breath taking because of it. This culturally rich place is especially busy during on of Valencia's many festivals throughout the year.

Great city. Nightlife is amazing. The activities were also thoroughly enjoyable with The Umbracle nightclub and go-karting being our favourite part. 5 out of 5!
